The Wife Weighs In...Week 13

Happy holidays, GHMIW fans!

So a very quick update from me, as I am trying to get things wrapped up before 11 full days off of work! Hurray!

This week was a very good week. After small gains and losses over the last few weeks, my hard work paid off with a nice loss. What super motivation for me to stick to my plans over vacation and get my backside to the gym.

My biggest success this week was achieving my number one non-scale goal. I no longer have to shop for pants in the plus-size department. When I started this journey, I was just moving out of my size 22 post-pregnancy jeans. I am now able to walk into any women's clothing store and put on a size 16. And, I am not far from a size 14. For years, I have dreamed of being able to do just that. Again, what fantastic motivation. Merry Christmas to me.

May your holidays be merry and bright...joy to the world!
Laura

My update:
12/14/2007: 192.4 pounds (a gain of 0.8 pounds)
12/21/2007: 189.4 pounds (a loss of 3 pounds)
Total loss: 39.0 pounds
New mini-goal: 182 pounds by February 1
6 weeks and 7.4 pounds to go...1.2 pounds a week

P.S. My New Year's resolution is to get a new profile picture.

The Weigh-In Week 28

216.2! That's what it said on the scale this morning. A loss of 1 pound!

I followed through on my plan yesterday and it paid off. I sampled small portions of each of the Crockpot offerings and did not go back for seconds. Then I went down to the gym and got on the treadmill. Amazingly I was able to finish another 5K...even with all that slow cooked meat sloshing around in my tummy.

Only 8 votes so no prize again this week, but our big winner would have been Cousin Ali. Nicely Done Ali! Enjoy your warm Christmas down in Texas.

After today I am on vacation until after the first of the year so there won't be regular updates for the next week and a half... although there will be one final Guess How Much I Weigh Contest and Weigh-In next week. Be sure to check back next Friday and see if I make my goal of being overweight for the New Year.

Have a warm, wonderful happy holiday!

Here is my gift to you. Side by side video comparison of yours truly. For real fun, pause the top video at 15 seconds and the bottom video at 10 Seconds and compare.

Guess How Much I Weigh Contest - Week 28

Sorry for the late post. I have been busy making Crockpot Apple Crisp for a company Crockpot Off. Yup you read that right. We are having a Crockpot cooking competition at work today to see who can make the best Crockpot recipe.

As you can imagine I am in a quandary. I would like to post another loss tomorrow. I would also like to fully enjoy the fruits of my co-workers labors. The smell of slow cooked meat is already permeating the office. It's siren scents calling to me like the Merwomen of ancient legend. Really good smelling merwomen

I brought a healthy lunch today, but I have a feeling I will abandoned it for the hidden Crockpot treasures.

Here is the plan. Modestly sample each of the entries. Go run 4 miles on the treadmill. Avoid leftovers.

We will see how I do.

There is one thing working in my favor. Many of the Crockpot entires are soup or chili based . I don't eat soup or chili. Which cuts down dramatically the number of things I will be tempted to sample.

Step right up, step right up.
Guess how much I weigh and win a fabulous prize.

To Recap:
Every Thursday I give you my stats for the week and you guess what you think the scale will say on Friday morning. The winner is the first person who guesses my weight / weight loss for the week without going over or the person who is closest without going over. Go ahead and click on comments at the bottom of this post and leave your guess.

I will post the winner when I post my weight on Fri. morning. If we get ten or more guesses I will have a prize for the winner.

No stats again this week. Holiday prep kind of got in the way of calorie counting. I think I'll be taking the rest of the year off from tracking calories and then back at it in the New Year.

I did good this week, until yesterday. Not that I did that bad yesterday. I skipped my workout yesterday to have lunch with a friend I haven't seen in a few months. I had a large put sensible lunch. Unfortunately I was caught unawares by a Birthday party celebration later in the day and partook of greasy fried food that was totally unnecessary but oh so yummy.

Skipping the workout or downing the fried foods in themselves weren't so bad. It was doing it on the same day that has me a little worried.

Let the guessing begin. Good Luck!

Who The Heck Is That?

It is amazing how fast I have forgotten who I used to be.

I stumbled across this video today while looking at some footage of the girls from this summer. I was shocked!!!

Sure I've been looking at photos of my former self but they don't quite capture the "grandeur" of the man I used to be.

Watching this I realize just how much I have changed and not just my physical appearance. I even move differently now that I don't have 5 feet of belly in front of me.

In this video I look and walk like my lovely wife did when she was 8-months pregnant.

What a difference 6 months and a few hundred miles can make.

Shopping = Exercise

This is the first weekend in a long time where I weigh the same on Monday morning as I did on the previous Friday morning. Normal I gain a pound or so over the weekend.

I mentioned this before but weekends always turn into free for alls. The lack of structure gets me every time. Not that I eat horrible. I just don't watch what I eat closely. This weekend was no exception. I had lunch out on Saturday and Sunday. Enjoyed a few snacks. Had a candy bar. Nothing off the rails. No binges, just a little more than my weekday calories.

I assumed that I would bounce up to 218 or 219 on the scale this morning, just like every other Monday morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see 217.4 instead.

My only conclusion? Christmas shopping is good exercise.

On second thought chasing 2, almost two-year olds through store after store trying to keeping them from tearing everything off the shelf is where the exercise really comes in.
